Nebuchadnezzar’s dream explained

Hi Folks. This morning the Lord Jesus sent us some more excellent and very useful information through the mouth of the brother. Today the Elder Nichols explained Nebuchadnezzar’s vision. It was great to hear the full and proper teaching on this. As I often do, I’m going to condense the message and post it here for the benefit of others.

Nebuchadnezzar’s vision is in Danial chapter two. We all know the event’s leading up to Daniel’s interpretation of the king’s dream so I will not get into that. Let’s go right to the king’s dream as interpreted by Daniel and let’s rightly divide scripture. Most bible teachers get this right until they get below the knees then they start jumping through hoops and come up with all sorts of unlikely craziness. This prophecy extends about six hundred years into the future from Daniel’s time.

The head of gold was Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom as the scripture plainly says in Daniel 2:38. The Babylonian Empire lasted from about 600 BC to 550 BC.

The chest and arms of silver was the empire of the Medes and persians. This empire lasted from about 550 BC until 330 BC.

The belly and thighs of brass were the Greeks. The Greek period of dominance was shorter than the others but it had a lasting impact. This period ran from about 330 BC to 200 BC.

The legs of iron were of course Rome. There were two legs and Rome did split into two empires, east and west. The legs start as iron and then go to a mixture of iron and clay as we get to the feet. The Roman empire did get weaker as it aged. As the scripture says it was partly weak and partly strong. Rome lasted until 476 AD.

Most people will agree on these points until they get to the feet then they go out into left field. There was still iron in the feet so we know it was still Rome. Lets look at Daniel 2:44

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed:

What is meant by ‘these kings’? What was the last kingdom mentioned? ‘These kings’ refers to the kings of Rome. So in the days of the kings of Rome shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom. Is it a coincidence that Jesus came during the Roman period and told people that the Kingdom of God was at hand? I think not. Let’s look at 2:45.

Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold;

The Stone was of course Jesus. Let’s look at some other scripture to verify this. In Matt 16:18 Jesus say’s ‘upon this rock I will build my church’. Referring to Himself of course. There are other references to this stone in the Gospels Matt 21:44, Mark 12:10. So the stone cut without hands in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is Jesus.
The kingdom that Dan 2:44 mentions is the Kingdom of God which is the Church. The kingdom of God consists of all those who follow Jesus. It’s a spiritual kingdom. The bible tells us that we are in the world but are not of the world, our citizenship is is somewhere else. We can even pinpoint the beginning of the kingdom of God. Let’s let scripture interpret scripture. Here is Luke 16:16. This is Jesus speaking.

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

The ‘law and prophets’ refers to the old covenant or the jewish age. The kingdom of God refers to the new covenant or the age of the Church. We know it was being brought into existence at that time because people were pressing into it. John was baptizing people at that time. What was he baptizing them into? Not the old covenant because that was coming to a close. He was baptizing them into the kingdom of God. The Jews had Daniels prophecy telling exactly when the kingdom of God was coming but they missed it. As is often the case God was telling about spiritual things but those listening were assuming physical things.

I know someone is going to pull Daniel 2:43 out of their rear end and try to build a nephilim fairy tale around it so let’s look at it now.

And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

The spread of the early church was primarily throughout the Roman empire. Christians were mingled with nonbelievers all over the empire but did not cleave to them. Christians being children of God through adoption were mingled with the seed of men.

All the events prophesied in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream have already happened. The gold, the silver, the bronze and the Iron are all empires that followed each other directly. If the feet represent some future thing what happened to all the empires from 476 to now? Why did God mention four that directly follow each other and then one that is in the distant future? And give no explanation about why one is separated from the rest by a couple thousand years. It’s simple, He didn’t. The feet are the last stage of the Roman empire.

Dan 2:35 the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth

There are followers of Jesus spread out all over the whole earth. The church will be here as long as the earth exists and the kingdom will not be taken from them. This is the same kingdom referred to in Revelation 20:4. The kingdom is now. Jesus isn’t going to set up a physical kingdom. We have our King right now. If you rightly divide scripture everything falls into place.
